MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah (PP Muhammadiyah) officially released and dispatched the First Cohort of Al-Azhar Egypt Scholarship Recipients on 2-3 December 2025.
The scholarship is a special mandate granted to PP Muhammadiyah during the visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Syeikh Ahmad At-Tayyeb, to the Muhammadiyah Dakwah Headquarter in Jakarta on 11 July 2024. Based on the agreement, PP Muhammadiyah sends 10 of its best cadres each yeaar to pursue studies at Al-Azhar University with a full scholarship, covering airfare, monthly allowance, dormitory, meals, and various other educational benefits.
Muhammadiyah Central Board Chairperson, Syafiq A. Mughni, expressed appreciation and expectations for the delegates, urging them to study earnestly and strengthen their Arabic-language competence so that they may become Muhammadiyah’s intellectual ambassadors on the global stage.
“These delegates do not only carry the name of Muhammadiyah, but also bear the mandate to seek knowledge as deeply as possible, broaden their global insight, and return to contribute to the organization and the Muslim community,” he said.
The scholarship recipients are outstanding Muhammadiyah cadres who have undergone a rigorous selection process since last year, including academic assessment, Arabic proficiency, Muhammadiyah commitment, as well as readiness to study at Al-Azhar University and to serve upon returning.
The participants dispatched to Egypt are: Saiful Mufid (alumnus of Muallimin Muhammadiyah), Hasan Hasyimi (alumnus of Al-Furqon Muhammadiyah Tasikmalaya), Azizah Qoirunnisa (alumnus of MBS Yogyakarta), Rizqy Faturrahman (alumnus of MBS Yogyakarta), Shadradin Marja Hukama (alumnus of MBS Ki Bagus Hadikusuma), Sayca Ar-Radhi (alumnus of Muallimin Muhammadiyah), Davy Mufti Aliyan (alumnus of MBS Ki Bagus Hadikusuma), Kayla Hayuningtyas (alumnus of Muallimat Muhammadiyah), dan Aura Salwa Wijianto (alumnus of MBS Yogyakarta).
The First Cohort of the Al-Azhar Egypt Scholarship marks an important milestone in strengthening Muhammadiyah’s cadre capacity at the international level, as well as part of the organization’s long-term effort to cultivate future ulama. In addition to coaching and mentoring, the participants will receive academic and cultural orientation from PCIM and PCIA Egypt to support their adaptation phase in the host country.
