MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SURAKARTA – SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta has emerged as a leading example of how schools can prioritize nutrition and education through their canteen programs. The school’s innovative approach has garnered attention, including recognition from the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP).
The principal of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta Sri Sayekti mentioned that the school canteen operates on a philosophy of learning and nutrition rather than profit. By focusing on the holistic development of students, SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta has created a model for other schools to emulate.
“We have developed a comprehensive plan for our canteen, working closely with health and education authorities. Our goal is to provide students with meals that are not only delicious but also contribute to their overall health and well-being,” said Sri Sayekti.
To ensure that students receive balanced and nutritious meals, the school has partnered with healthcare professionals and educational institutions.
“We carefully monitor the nutritional content of our meals, ensuring that they are balanced and appropriate for growing children. For example, we limit the amount of sugar to prevent obesity,” said Sri Sayekti.
The school’s commitment to healthy eating has not gone unnoticed. Filippo Gavazzeni, head of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact Secretariat, expressed admiration for the school’s efforts.
“SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta is a shining example of how schools can prioritize nutrition,” said Filippo Gavazzeni.
