MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir mentioned issues of individual grouping should have ended by the 2024 political year to eliminate political divisions.
Haedar said that the founding fathers of this nation had solved the ideological differences through Pancasila agreed through Philosophische Grondslag. Pancasila is an agreement of all groups, religions, races, ethnicities, and political ideologies.
Muhammadiyah has applied values of Pancasila to various services in education, health, social, economy, and politics.
Muhammadiyah and Indonesian Identity
Islam, Indonesian identity, and Muhammadiyah are inseparable. Islam unites with Indonesia and contributes to develop Indonesia, the nation, and the people.
Muhammadiyah has involved in the history of Indonesia. For instance, General Sudirman, who was Muhammadiyah cadre, led the Guerrilla War, and Muhammadiyah also established the Sabil War Army.
“Ki Bagus Hadikusumo, who was the Chairman of the BPUPKI, played a crucial role in making an agreement, the Jakarta Charter and the Speech of 1st June, resulting in the formulation of Pancasila. This led to the elevation of the belief in the Almighty God, initially placed in the sixth principle, to the first principle by adding some word becoming the belief in the One Almighthy God,” said Haedar at the Book Launching and Review of ‘Gaya Kepemimpinan Strategis dan Green Human Resource Management Dalam Membangun Teamwork’ (Strategic Leadership Style and Green Human Resource Management in Building Teamwork) on Monday (22/5).
These historical facts embody a strong sense of nationalism, patriotism, and Indonesian identity within Muhammadiyah. However, due to their modest nature and focus on action rather than rhetoric, Muhammadiyah’s vital contributions often go unnoticed or are difficult to trace.
