MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, TEHRAN—The Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Iran, in collaboration with the Indonesian Student Association (IPI) in Iran, successfully organized the sacrificial slaughter of animals. It was the first event that both organizations conducted in Iran. They slaughtered eight sheep in three different provinces: Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad/Razavi Khorasan on Wednesday (June 28).
The Chairman of PCIM of Iran Syahrul Ramadhan, who was in Tehran, Iran, mentioned that the sacrificial meat was distributed to several regions across Iran. “We distributed the sacrificial meat to Indonesians living in Iran or married to Iranians, Iranians, and foreigners from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and India who live and study in Iran,” said Syahrul. The distribution aimed to raise unity and solidarity among the residents of Iran.
Qurban denotes an Islamic ritual and worship that benefits Muslims, raises social awareness, spreads love, and strengthens brotherhood among citizens. The qurban in Iran might reinforce relations between Indonesians and Iranians and could positively impact Indonesian Muslims and Iranians.
Besides, the IPI and PCIM of Iran commit to conducting productive activities involving and benefiting Indonesians dwelling in Iran.
President of IPI Restu Perdana expressed his delight over the sacrificial slaughter by PCIM of Iran and IPI of Iran. He hoped this event would be a promising start and become an annual tradition.
“This is the first qurban conducted by PCIM of Iran in collaboration with IPI of Iran. We hoped to perform it each year and have an increasing number of sacrificial animals,” said Restu.
The qurban may raise the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and sacrifice mentioned al-Qurban. It may also strengthen and contribute to fostering a harmonious relationship between Iranians and Indonesians.
