MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesia U-22 national football team clinched gold at the 2023 SEA games, defeating Thailand 5-2 at Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Tuesday (16/5).
It ended the 32-year wait for the men’s SEA Games football gold medal. Indonesia achieved gold at the 1991 SEA Games in the Philippines.
Interestingly, three of the national team members are Muhammadiyah students, namely Rizky Ridho, a student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya; Muhammad Ferarri, a student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta; and Taufany Muslihuddin, a student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur.
Rizky Ridho
Rizky Ridho Ramadhani, a center-beck (a central defender) from Persebaya Surabaya, is studying Management at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya.
He got the athlete scholarship. He enrolled in the university with other players of Persebaya Surabaya, Koko Ari and Andre Oktaviansyah. Other players had previously enrolled at the university. They were Alwi Slamat and Muhammad Hidayat.
“I doubted studying at this university because I was afraid I couldn’t manage my time. However, I found out that the Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya has a certain curriculum for athletes. It was fruitful, and I am glad,” said Ridho when applying at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya on November 1, 2022.
In the final of men’s SEA Games football, Rizky Ridho was a starting lineup and did an assist resulting in a goal by Ramadhan Sananta. According to Skor.id, he got a rating of 7.0.
Muhammad Ferrari
Muhammad Ferarri, a defender and key player for Persija Jakarta, is currently a student at the Department of Education and Sports of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ).
Muhammad Ferrari became a substitute player in the final of the men’s SEA Games football. Skor.id mentioned his rating of 6.0.
Muhammad Taufany Muslihuddin
Muhammad Taufany Muslihuddin is a student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. In the final of men’s SEA Games football, he made the last goal leading the victory of Indonesia at the match.
Despite being reduced to 10 players after Pratama Arhan received a red card during the match against Vietnam, the young Borneo FC player managed to secure a dramatic win.
Taufany’s football journey commenced when he joined the Borneo Youth Academy in 2019 and participated in the Elite Pro Academy 2019. His remarkable performances caught the attention of Mitra Kukar, who subsequently signed him for the 2020/2021 season. He continued his professional career with Borneo FC, signing a long-term contract until 2025.
