MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, QATAR – Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Universities have once again recorded a significant international achievement. This time, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), represented by its Al-Qorni UAD team, secured a championship title at the Shell Eco-Marathon Middle East & Asia 2026. The event took place at the Lusail International Circuit (LIC) in Qatar from January 21 to 25, 2026.
The Shell Eco-Marathon is a prestigious global competition that challenges university students to design and drive vehicles with the highest possible energy efficiency. There were two main categories within the event. The on-track category evaluates vehicle performance on the race circuit. Meanwhile, the off-track category focuses on telemetry systems, vehicle design, and technological innovation. Through these formats, the competition promotes sustainable transportation solutions and encourages creativity in engineering.
Support and Future Commitments
Speaking on behalf of the Al-Qorni UAD team, Farhan Bastian expressed gratitude and appreciation for the collective efforts of the entire team. Thanks to strong collaboration, long term planning, and shared commitment, the team emerged as the winner in the Off-Track Vehicle Design category, highlighting its strength in innovation and teamwork.
“This journey began as a dream in 2023. We planned it in 2024 and fully executed in 2025,” Farhan said in an interview with the editorial team on Wednesday (02/04). “Along the way, we faced both technical and non technical challenges that tested our perseverance and unity. Ultimately, in 2026, all those efforts paid off.”
Farhan, moreover, emphasized that the team’s core motivation stemmed from a strong work ethic and a culture of resilience that had been instilled from the outset. Looking ahead, he said the Al-Qorni UAD team plans to further strengthen its research and innovation in order to compete again in future off-track categories at the Shell Eco-Maraton.
He also acknowledged the support of multiple partners, including Ahmad Dahlan University, PT Acuan Teknologi Rekayasa, the Indonesian Community Association in Qatar, and the Nogogeni ITS team.
The victory underscores the strategic role of PTMA institutions in fostering advanced research and innovation. Moreover, it is expected to strengthen academic culture, expand international collaboration, and advance sustainable technology development within Muhammadiyah’s higher education network. (Bhisma)
