EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah in Morocco (PCIM Morocco) met with the Central Board at its office in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/10).
The meeting discussed strengthening cadre development, organizational progress, and opportunities to expand international cooperation in education and research.
PCIM Morocco Chairperson Faisal Maulana said the organization was currently focusing on two main priorities: internal cadre development and external cooperation. Both aim to strengthen cadres’ capacities while expanding Muhammadiyah’s networks with institutions in Morocco and Indonesia.
“PCIM Morocco is working to strengthen cadre development while building partnerships with various educational institutions. We hope to turn Morocco’s potential into tangible collaborations that benefit Muhammadiyah and the education sector,” Faisal said.
One key topic was the implementation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between Muhammadiyah and two Moroccan educational institutions: the Darul Hadith al-Hassania Institute and the Mohammed VI Institute for Quranic Readings and Studies.
These partnerships have so far included sending Muhammadiyah delegations to pursue further studies in Morocco. Moving forward, the collaboration is expected to expand through partnerships with Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities. They are planning to perform collaborative initiative particularly in education, research, and academic exchanges.
Further opportunities are available with public universities in Morocco. Potential initiatives include international seminars, researcher exchanges, exchanges of academic literature, and joint research between universities in Indonesia and Morocco.
Morocco is known for its distinctive scholarly tradition, shaped by its Islamic intellectual heritage and engagement with Western thought. This offers opportunities for knowledge exchange and could enrich academic perspectives at universities in both countries.
Follow-Up Plans from Muhammadiyah
Responding to these proposals, Muhammadiyah Central Board Chairman Syafiq A. Mughni welcomed PCIM Morocco’s plans to develop international cooperation. He said the opportunities should be followed up through coordination with various Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah higher education institutions.
“These cooperation opportunities need concrete follow-up involving PTMA. This will allow the potential of each institution to be developed into sustainable education and research programs,” Syafiq said.
The Muhammadiyah Central Board will connect the proposed opportunities with PTMA so they can be pursued according to each institution’s potential and needs.
The meeting forms part of broader efforts to strengthen PCIM Morocco’s role as a bridge between Muhammadiyah and educational institutions in Morocco. By strengthening cadre development and expanding international partnerships, PCIM Morocco is expected to promote sustainable cooperation in education and research while broadening Muhammadiyah’s global contributions.
