23 EMT Muhammadiyah Members Depart to Turkey

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – 23 members of the Emergency Medical Team (EMT), under the coordination of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC), departed to Turkey and Syria from Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport on Monday (13/2).

They were included in the Indonesian Humanitarian Team (INA-EMT), consisting of the National Police Health Team (17 people), the International Military/TNI Health Team (17 people), the EMT of the Ministry of Health, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), profession organizations, and social organizations.

The INA-EMT will found a field hospital in Hassa, Hatay, Turkey. The team went after 47 members of the National Search and Rescue Agency (INASAR/MUSAR) departed to Turkey earlier by the Indonesian Military’s Boeing B737-400 and C-130 Hercules aircraft.

To respond to the Turkey-Syria emergency, Lazismu (the Muhammadiyah zakat management previously fundraised, and the emergency response program was managed by the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Turkey. Then, some funds were used to support the EMT Muhammadiyah mission. The EMT brought five tons of medical and non-medical equipment to support medical services.

Muhammadiyah Aims to Establish Mosque and Educational Institution in Japan

After being symbolically released by the Government of Indonesia on Saturday (11/2) by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Minister of Health, Commander of the Indonesian Military, Head of BNPB, and Ambassador of Turkey, Secretary of Muhammadiyah M. Izzul Muslims gave a speech to the EMT Muhammadiyah Team on Sunday evening (12/2).

Located at the BPPK of the Ministry of Health, Izzul Muslimin said that the departure of the EMT Muhammadiyah to Turkey was Muhammadiyah’s consistency always to help others regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, and regional boundaries.

“This year is 100 years of the establishment of PKO (the first Muhammadiyah health care). The departure of this team is a milestone for Muhammadiyah. The first Muhammadiyah clinic was on 15 February 1923 in Suronatan, Yogyakarta. K.H. Ahmad Dahlan and all Muhammadiyah figures helped many people through the clinic regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, and background,” said Izzul, Former Chairman of Ikatan Pelajar Muhammadiyah (IPM/Muhammadiyah Student Association) and Pemuda Muhammadiyah.

Izzul hoped that the EMT Muhammadiyah members to be role models for INA-EMT members because the EMT Muhammadiyah has experienced emergency responses and is now in the process of verification, running 75%.

“May all EMT Muhammadiyah members perform their duty well and stay safe,” said Izzul.

The 23 members of the EMT Muhammadiyah were dr. Corona Rintawan, dr. Eva Delsi Djohar, dr. Ershad A. Manggala, Ade Indah Irmayanti Y., Suprayetno, Agus Priyanto, Anggi Setiawan, Mualim Abdillah, Nani Sarwiah, Naziat Fatchur, Nur Adi Wibowo, Zakarija Achmat, Pristiawan Buntoro, Donny Halim Mutiasa, Huda Khairun Nahar, Faruq Kusuma N., Noto Prasetyo, Fikri Syahmunakhwa, Muhammad Taufiq Ulinuha, Surya Prima, Novy Husnul M, Rindya Fery Indrawan, and M. Abdoel Malik Rizal.

Besides, two Muhammadiyah members representing a professional organization were involved in the INA-EMT. They were dr. Ribkhi Amalia, Sp.OG and dr. Era Chess Prasetya, Sp.KJ.

In addition, the Indonesian government will provide USD 1 million for Turkey and USD 1 million for Syria in the first term of assistance.

“The Indonesian government always sends humanitarian assistance to friendly countries hit by disasters. The aid is in the form of logistics, personnel, and any equipment,” said the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, on Saturday (11/02).
