Qurban through Lazismu to Benefit National and International Communities

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Institute for Zakat, Infaq, and Alms Management (Lazismu) will undertake a qurban program for people in need in Indonesia and other countries such as Palestine, Yemen, and Rohingya. The program has six objectives.

First, it aims to standardize the national qurban program by Lazismu. Second, it becomes a guideline for the implementation of Lazismu’s national program. Third, it aims to introduce Lazismu to wider communities.

The Chair of Lazismu M. Furqon mentioned services of Lazismu will be promoted locally and globally, particularly in countries where vulnerable communities reside.

“Lazismu collaborates with international partners in Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Myanmar (Rohingya), and Yemen to run the program,” said Furqon in a press release on Friday (23/6).

Fourth, Lazismu would like to boost the program of ‘QurbanMu Kuatkan Ketahanan Pangan‘ (QurbanMu Strengthens Food Resilience). This program is applied in Indonesia and overseas. In Indonesia, the program focuses on qurban meat distribution through sub-programs such as packaged meat, fresh mead, ready-to-eat meat, and, meat donation. Meanwhile, Lazismu will conduct an International Qurban program, which includes the sacrifice of sheep or cows, either individually or collectively.

“These sacrificial carcasses and meat will be distributed as fresh meat to the local communities. The selected sacrificial animals are sheep, and the distribution points for this program are Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Myanmar (Rohingya), and Yemen,” said Furqon.

Fifth, Lazismu invites the public, Muhammadiyah internals and externals, to contribute to fundraising for qurban and distributing qurban meat.

Lazismu targets to acquire 2,524 cattle (cows/buffaloes) and 1,924 goats/sheep for qurban at the national level. Additionally, the target for packaged sacrificial meat is valued at IDR 14,388,063,622. On the international scale, Lazismu aims to obtain 30 sheep, equivalent to IDR 200 million.
