MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Global Halal Certification Centre (GHCC) of South Korea on Thursday (October 12) at the Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta.
The Director of the Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies, Nadratuzzaman, and the Global Chairman of GHCC, Kwon Jeong Sang, signed the MoU.
“Our MoU focuses on increasing the number of halal product certifications. In recent years, many industries and companies in South Korea have been playing significant roles in the Indonesian market,” said Nadratuzzaman.
Under the agreement, the Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies as a halal certification center accredited by the Indonesian National Agency for Food and Drug Control and Supervision (BPJPH), will assist South Korean companies in obtaining halal certification. At the same time, GHCC will serve as a marketing agency.
“They can also consult with the GHCC and access its website, and we will help audit companies in Korea that need certification,” said Nadratuzzaman.
He hoped that international trade between South Korea and Indonesia would increase and more South Korean companies would invest in building factories in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Global Chairman of GHCC Kwon Jeong Sang thanked and welcomed the cooperation with the Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies because the bilateral and cultural relations between the governments of South Korea and Indonesia have been 50 years.
Although many countries in the world have similar halal centers, Indonesia, according to Sang, is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, which has the potential to develop the halal industry in Indonesia. Therefore, the South Korean government would like to invest in this sector.
Sang said the South Korean government is concerned with climate change and environmentally friendly halal programs. The Korean government would help the Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies with its artificial intelligence system, and in the near future, the GHCC would partner with large companies to work with the Muhammadiyah Institute for Halal Inspection and Halalan Thayyiban Studies.
