MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – LazisMu, the Muhammadiyah Institute for Zakat, Infaq, and Alms, received a generous donation of IDR 551 million from the Merangin Pejuang Subuh (a religious community) of Jambi, dedicated to the people of Palestine. It was accepted by the Chair of the Management Board, Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais, at the Lazismu Office of Jakarta.
The funds were collected by people and civil servants of Merangin through the Merangin Cares for Palestine initiative.
“We will distribute the donation to the Palestinians through local partners of Muhammadiyah in the Middle East, in proximity to Palestine,” said Edi Suryanto, the CEO of Lazismu, on Wednesday (November 29).
Edi expressed gratitude for the trust and thanked five representatives from the Merangin Pejuang Subuh, who traveled for approximately 24 hours to hand over the donation.
The donation would not be distributed entirely all at once, but it would be utilized for long-term sustainable programs for the Palestinians. LazisMu, according to Edi, is committed to monitoring the transparency of the distribution of the funds.
Besides, Chair of the Management Board Ahmad Imam Mujadid mentioned that Lazismu humanitarian actions are inclusive globally while addressing various national issues.
“We assist both Indonesians and Palestinians. We care for them,” said Imam.
Meanwhile, Andi, a representative of the Merangin Pejuang Subuh, said that the donation was gathered from the community, local government, and donors in the Merangin Regency who entrusted their contributions through the Merangin Cares for Palestine initiative.
“Today, we hand over the donation to Lazismu to distribute it to people in Palestine. May Palestine be free,” said Andi.
