MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah has been actively involved in global peace-building efforts. The Secretary General of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti highlighted the organization’s active role in various peace-building initiatives worldwide.
One such example is Muhammadiyah collaboration with a Catholic institution in Italy to support peace efforts in Central Africa. The organization’s influence is also evident in Southeast Asia, where it assists communities in Pattani, Thailand, and the Bangsa Moro region of the Philippines.
“Muhammadiyah has established two schools for Palestinian refugees. This organization has also provided educational and healthcare services to Rohingya refugees,” said Mu’ti in the Islamic Book Fair 2024 on Thursday, August 15.
Furthermore, Mu’ti explained that Muhammadiyah strives to create peaceful environments where the people feel secure and get protection of their identity, freedom of worship, and protection of their sovereignty.
Muhammadiyah collaborates with global partners to host peace forums where diverse voices advocate for peace and conflict resolution. These dialogues aim to foster genuine understanding and create a more peaceful world.
In the Indonesian context, Muhammadiyah fosters a culture of peace by cultivating a generation that values peace.
“Muhammadiyah has contributed to community development by providing essential services such as education, social welfare, and healthcare, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of the Indonesian people,” said Mu’ti.
