MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANDUNG – Muhammadiyah emphasizes the importance of a holistic development for its members, focusing on four key areas: strong religious beliefs, a commitment to knowledge, high moral character, and deep spirituality.
Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Dadang Kahmad mentioned that these foundational principles are rooted in the Quran and Sunnah and are further elaborated in the organization’s foundational documents: the Muqaddimah (Introduction) of the Statute of Muhammadiyah, the Muhammadiyah Identity, the Corpus of Creed and Life Goals of Muhammadiyah, the Guidance for the Islamic Life of Muhammadiyah Members, and a Treatise of Progressive Islam.
“These documents serve as ideological guides for Muhammadiyah da’wa efforts and its various institutions,” said Dadang on Tuesday, August 19. He added that the documents also lead Muhammadiyah to achieve its goals to be true Muslims.
Dadang emphasized the need for Muhammadiyah members to deeply understand these ideological foundations. He stressed that a balanced approach to both religious and scientific knowledge is essential.
Dadang expressed concern about the increasing number of individuals with high levels of education but lacking in ethical behavior. He highlighted the importance of reflecting intellectual knowledge in daily actions and living a life that exemplifies religious values.
Muhammadiyah members are expected to be forward-thinking, critical thinkers, and innovators. Their generosity and charitable nature have been key factors in the organization’s enduring success.
