MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MANOKWARI – Muhammadiyah Chairperson of Education, Culture, and Sports Irwan Akib, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the official transition of STKIP Muhammadiyah Manokwari into Universitas Muhammadiyah (UM) Papua Barat.
“Alhamdulillah, after a long journey, STKIP Muhammadiyah Manokwari has officially become Universitas Muhammadiyah Papua Barat. This is a blessing we should be truly grateful for,” said Irwan on Thursday, July 17.
Irwan thanked everyone who contributed to making this transformation possible. However, Irwan reminded that this milestone marks the beginning of a greater responsibility rather than the end of a process.
“The challenges ahead will be more complex. This calls for hard work, careful planning, and a strong commitment. UM Papua Barat should bring real benefits to the community and become a model for educational progress in West Papua,” emphasized Irwan.
Irwan also stressed that the presence of the university is not only for Muhammadiyah but also for all Indonesians, regardless of their backgrounds.
“UM Papua Barat should be a place that enlightens and empowers young people, especially in the eastern regions of Indonesia. This is proof that Muhammadiyah is committed to serving the entire nation,” said Irwan.
Irwan closed by congratulating the team on this significant achievement and expressed sincere appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
