MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought/WFPIST (Majma’ Al Alamy Li Taqrib Baina Madzahibil Islamiyah) Dr. Hamid Shahriari visited the Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta on Monday (July 24). The visit was addressed to collaborate with Muhammadiyah to advance Muslims and strengthen their brotherhood.
The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syafiq A. Mughni mentioned that Muhammadiyah welcomed the cooperation to elevate Muslims’ quality of life and reinforce their relations.
“Muhammadiyah would like to always expand networks to any parties, particularly Muslims, to improve their capacity. Possible partnerships with Majma’ Al Alamy Li Taqrib Baina Madzahibil Islamiyah will be about student and faculty exchange programs,” said Syafiq A. Mughni.
Besides, enhancing economic, intellectual, technological, spiritual, and political aspects is essential to empower Muslims to contribute to global peace and justice actively.
“This partnership seeks unity within the Muslim community without favoring specific schools of thought, and I appreciate the organization’s openness to differences. As long as our goals align positively, with no hidden agendas, and serve the benefit of Muslims, I believe it should be warmly welcomed,” said Syafiq A. Mughni.
Furthermore, Dr. Hamid Shahriari mentioned that the visit aimed to strengthen ties between the international forums, scholars from different schools of thought, and Muhammadiyah, foster unity among Muslims, and achieve the vision of unified Muslims.
Dr. Hamid Shahriari also invited Muhammadiyah to attend the International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran in October.
“We wish that the Chairman of Muhammadiyah or its representatives could come to the conference and discuss current Islamic issues and their answers,” said Dr. Hamid Shahriari.
