MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PURWOKERTO — ‘Aisyiyah has been at the forefront of establishing preschools in Indonesia. With approximately 20,000 preschools across Indonesia and overseas, ‘Aisyiyah remains committed to innovative practices that accelerate the growth of preschool education.
To expedite the progress of preschools, it is crucial for all stakeholders, including school principals and teachers, to take tangible steps forward. Moreover, in order to avoid being swayed by popular educational trends on social media, Muhammadiyah teachers are encouraged to develop their ability to comprehend both theories and practical applications.
“It is essential for ‘Aisyiyah to revitalize preschool education in order to effectively address the challenges of today,” stated Haedar Nashir, the President of Muhammadiyah, during the inauguration of SD and TK ‘Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto on Thursday (8/6).
Regarding the curriculum, Haedar emphasized the importance of aligning children’s learning experiences with their developmental stage. Early childhood education should adopt a humanistic approach, nurturing their holistic development rather than focusing solely on dogmatic religious education.
Indeed, Muhammadiyah educational institutions are expected to implement a holistic education approach that cultivates students with integrated intelligence, encompassing spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and other aspects.
