MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA—The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Anwar Abbas stood in for President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir at a rally in Jakarta on Sunday, November 5. Anwar Abbas expressed unwavering support for Palestine in his passionate speech, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian values, justice, and peace principles integral to Indonesian identity.
Anwar Abbas underscored Indonesia’s rich cultural and religious diversity, and this nation has a moral duty to advocate for humanitarian values and global peace.
“We are a nation that cherishes its diverse cultures, upholds humanitarian principles, and is dedicated to justice. Our constitution mandates us to promote world peace,” said Anwar Abbas.
Anwar Abbas emphasized Indonesia’s constitutional responsibility to actively contribute to global peace and vehemently oppose colonization.
Independence is truly the right of all nations. Palestine has been oppressed and occupied by Israel since 1948. Palestine is entitled to be a free and sovereign state.
“Colonization in the world shall be abolished. Therefore, it is a must to stand with Palestine because we have to set the Palestinian people free form the Israeli oppression,” said Anwar Abbas.
Palestinians have long struggled for freedom, including through armed resistance. Ongoing support for their quest for self-determination and a sovereign state is needed.
“Palestinian people’s desire is crystal clear – to break free from Israeli occupation and create an independent, self-governing nation that they can make decisions and shape their own future,” said Anwar Abbas.
