MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BANDUNG—Environmental degradation has substantially altered its fundamental nature and components. The impact on environmental functionality and its profound importance for life cannot be overlooked. To respond to the circumstance, the Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Council for Environmental Preservation Djihadul Mubarok mentioned that Muhammadiyah would establish the Environmental Cadre School and the Energy School.
The Environmental Cadre School aims to cultivate individuals well-versed in environmental comprehension. Muhammadiyah members will learn how to improve the quality of their environment so they can become agents of control and change. The more environmental activists, the greater the positive impact on the environment.
“The environment is the home for all living creatures, and people should preserve it. Allah intentionally creates everything on earth and in the heavens. Ironically, human actions often contribute to this degradation. Irresponsible exploitation of nature by humans has sparked alternating disasters with adverse effects on humanity. Thus, it is crucial to preserve the environment,” said Djihadul Mubarok in the Gerakan Subuh Mengaji on Friday (August 25).
Besides, the Energy School will focus on renewable energy as a viable alternative to depleting and environmentally harmful fossil fuels. Shifting to renewable energy sources is crucial for maintaining environmental sustainability.
A religious approach will also be used to train environmental activists. The training of Environmental Preachers (Muballigh/Muballighat Lingkungan) will be the central platform for developing environmentally conscious leaders with deep-rooted religious values.
The Muhammadiyah Council for Environmental Preservation is committed to protecting and conserving the environment for the welfare of humanity and to honoring the beauty of Allah’s creation. These initiatives mark essential steps in tackling urgent environmental issues.
