MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah marked its 111th anniversary by kicking off “Gerakan Infaq Pendidikan 111 Muhammadiyah” (GIP 111/Muhammadiyah Education Philanthropy Initiative 111).
General Treasurer of Muhammadiyah Hilman Latief mentioned that the GIP 111 embodies Muhammadiyah’s commitment to commemorating its milestone by spreading joy and fostering education.
” Following the Muhammadiyah plenary meeting November is a charity month for Muhammadiyah members,” said Hilman on November 7.
According to Hilman, funds collected through the GIP 111 will be added to the Muhammadiyah endowment funds for education, which will annually be distributed to support Muhammadiyah educational institutions.
“We would like to strengthen Muhammadiyah philanthropy,” said Hilman.
The funds will be utilized for the following purposes:
- Revitalizing and accelerating the development of educational infrastructure, addressing critical needs,
- Offering financial assistance or salary support to teachers in underserved, remote regions, and under-resourced educational institutions, and
- Accelerating the competitiveness enhancement and the development of centers of excellence.
“The second and third aims are urgent because we would like to standardize Muhammadiyah teachers’ salary or provide them properly, close to the salary standard.” said Hilman.
Thus, Hilman encouraged all people, particularly Muhammadiyah members, to contribute to the GIP.
