MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JORDAN – Jordan is home to many Palestinian refugees, with thousands living in camps or scattered across the country, some with official status and others having fled conflict without documentation.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the Muhammadiyah Special Branch of Jordan (PCIM Jordan) and its Lazismu (Muhammadiyah Charity Management) service office distributed aid to support these refugees. They provided 100 iftar meal packages for orphaned children from Gaza and 100 food packages containing daily essentials for families in need at Joufah refugee camp in Amman.
The iftar event for Gaza orphans took place on Friday, March 21. A team of 12 volunteers from PCIM Jordan traveled about 30 kilometers to the camp. The gathering was filled with joy, starting with a dance performance by the children. Volunteers also handed out toys and snacks before the children returned to their shelters.
The following day, on Saturday, March 22, PCIM Jordan distributed food aid to 100 families facing extreme hardship. The effort was carried out in collaboration with the local NGO, the Islamic Center Charity Society (ICCS), which helped identify families most in need.
Shereen Rawasydah, coordinator of Joufah camp, expressed appreciation for the support, noting that it was the first time Muhammadiyah had provided aid there.
“May Muhammadiyah continue to help refugees wherever they are,” she said.
