Muhammadiyah Launches Suryavena, Calls on All Muhammadiyah Hospitals to Strengthen Coordination

EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Haedar Nashir, President of Muhammadiyah, officially launched Suryavena, a new line of disposable medical supplies, on Thursday (23/7) at SM Tower in Yogyakarta.

Haedar Nashir, in his remarks, said the launch should serve not only as the introduction of a new healthcare product but also as an opportunity to reinforce institutional solidarity across the Muhammadiyah organization. Haedar stated that Muhammadiyah should not create the impression that the organization only excels at building external partnerships while neglecting internal organization.

“With more than 130 Muhammadiyah hospitals, in addition to our clinics, this partnership should further reinforce our internal consolidation so that we become even stronger together,” he said.

He noted that collaboration within Muhammadiyah should be easier because all Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Hospitals (RSMA) belong to a single organization and are united by shared values and a common institutional system.

“We are united by our shared mission and movement, as well as by our own organizational system. That gives us a strong foundation for internal cooperation,” Haedar explained.

A Unified Organization, Not a Federation

Haedar stressed that Muhammadiyah functions as a single united organization rather than a federation of independent entities. The principle, he said, also applies to its autonomous organizations (Organisasi Otonom or Ortom), whose roles differ but remain part of one institutional framework.

He noted that the Statute and Bylaws of Muhammadiyah clearly establishes this organizational structure.

“Under the principle of unity, there is no room for a federation or institutional separation,” he said. “Differences in responsibilities or functions among Muhammadiyah’s various elements should never divide us.”

For that reason, Haedar encouraged every Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Hospital to commit to using Suryavena medical products as part of strengthening the organization’s internal healthcare network.

dr. Agus Taufiqurrahman, chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, echoed the message, describing the initiative as an important opportunity to deepen both collaboration and institutional consolidation within Muhammadiyah’s healthcare services.

“This effort will succeed only if we approach it seriously and wholeheartedly,” Agus said. “Once we reach an agreement, there should be no room for breaking that commitment. We must safeguard it together.”

Building a Sustainable Healthcare Ecosystem

Agus also explained that the Muhammadiyah Central Board’s Council for Public Health Development (MPKU) is currently developing a comprehensive Muhammadiyah Healthcare Ecosystem.

He said earlier efforts primarily focused on developing healthcare professionals. The organization is now expanding that vision by strengthening the broader healthcare economy and creating a sustainable medical industry.

“Together with the Economic Council, we have begun developing a sustainable healthcare industry, and today’s launch marks an important milestone in that effort,” he said.

Agus, who oversees health, social welfare, and disaster resilience within the Muhammadiyah Central Board, emphasized the importance of strengthening the four pillars of Muhammadiyah’s healthcare ecosystem.

Those pillars include producing qualified healthcare professionals through education, delivering quality medical services through Muhammadiyah hospitals, strengthening community health systems, and building a sustainable healthcare industry capable of meeting the organization’s long-term needs.
