Muhammadiyah Nursing Graduates in High Demand at Overseas Hospitals

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to producing healthcare graduates who are not only professionally competent but also uphold strong moral values. Through a strategic partnership, UMS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Al Habib Global Talent/PT Timur Raya Jaya to recruit 100 Muhammadiyah nurses to work in Saudi Arabia under a three-year employment contract.

UMS Rector, Harun Joko Prayitno, stated that this collaboration opens up real global opportunities for alumni, particularly in the field of nursing. He urged graduates to not only gain knowledge in the classroom, but also apply it for the benefit of society.

“Knowledge should not stop at the classroom, it must be practiced for the good of the community,” Harun said on Friday (3/10).

Beyond the technical aspect, UMS also emphasized the importance of carrying the mission of Islamic da’wah and humanitarian values in healthcare services abroad. Harun expressed his hope that Muhammadiyah graduates would be known not only as medical professionals but also as role models in maintaining cleanliness, health, and ethical conduct.

Dean of the Faculty of Medical Science, Umi Budi Rahayu, described the MoU as a “real opportunity” for alumni and prospective professional nurses. She hopes that graduates will uphold the university’s good reputation and make positive contributions abroad.

From the partner’s side, Ahmad Faisol of PT al Habib Global Talent highlighted that Muhammadiyah graduates are highly sought after overseas because of their reputation for being diligent and well-mannered. However, he also stressed the importance of meeting international healthcare standards and regulations to ensure Muhammadiyah graduates are fully recognized as professionals on the global stage.

The MoU signing was also attended by officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Migrant Workers Protection, faculty leaders, and program candidates. A total of 30 nursing students, both alumni and soon-to-be graduates, have been prepared to participate in the program at healthcare facilities in Saudi Arabia. (Bintang Adrian)
