MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PERLIS – Muhammadiyah, now at 113 years of age, has produced thousands of organizational cadres capable of leading various strategic sectors, including higher education. This accomplishment is inseparable from the role of the Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development, Central Board of Muhammadiyah (Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah), which has created flagship programs to enhance the quality of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA).
In a session of the 2025 International Conference at Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), the Secretary of Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah, Ahmad Muttaqin, delivered a comprehensive explanation of the Leadership Training Program–one of the council’s flagship initiatives–aimed at strengthening leadership competencies and university governance for leaders of PTMAs throughout Indonesia.
“In higher education, we now have 164 universities, both Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah. This training model within the PTMA environment is our effort to prepare a regeneration of leaders to face new challenges in the future,” said Muttaqin at the event held on Wednesday (26/11).
Muttaqin added that this program has been passed down by Muhammadiyah since the 2017s and has produced thousands of organizational cadres, with training emphasizing spiritual aspects, knowledge, and managerial science.
“We provide numerous learning opportunities through this training. We believe that everyone can become a leader through learning and training. Therefore, this becomes our tool so that university administrators have a platform and receive the necessary materials to lead PTMAs in the future,” he concluded.
The Leadership Training Program is a concrete step by Muhammadiyah as well as a firm commitment to ensuring continuity of leadership within PTMAs. This effort also serves as a strategic move to prepare PTMA to face global transformation and to become an important part of shaping the nation’s future leaders. (Bintang Adrian)
