SEA Games 2023, 12 Muhammadiyah Students Contribute 10 Gold and 3 Silver Medals

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The largest sporting event in Southeast Asia, SEA Games 2023, conducted 5-17 May. It concluded with Vietnam ranking top place in the medal tally with 136 gold medals of 259 medals, followed by Thailand and Indonesia.

Indonesia achieved 87 gold medals and 276 medals overall, surpassing President Joko Widodo’s target of 69 gold medals.

Among the 36 sports, Indonesia sent 559 of 6,210 athletes at the 2023 SEA Games.

Of the 559 Indonesian athletes, 13 were Muhammadiyah university students. They participated in five sports, namely pencak silat, football, kun bokator, athletics, and traditional boat race.
