Syafiq A. Mughni mentions that the meeting talked about cooperation in education.
“Muhammadiyah provides scholarships for students from Kenya to study in Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities. We first offer scholarships for 20 students. They may apply for it and follow the selection process,” Syafiq A. Mughni said.
Furthermore, Syafiq A. Mughni said that the ambassador proposed Muhammadiyah to establish a Muhammadiyah university in Kenya.
“They will provide land for the university establishment, but we have to deliberate it because of the long distance between Indonesia and Kenya and because it requires sustainable management, well-prepared sources, and adequate funds,” explained Syafiq.
Nevertheless, Muhammadiyah will discuss the notion if the Department of Education in Kenya allows collaboration in education.
“We told them if a public or private educational institutions give an occasion of the cooperation, the university establishment is something possible,” said Syafiq.
