MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PEKANBARU–Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI) initiated to design treatment and rehabilitation programs due to the massive distribution of drugs, free sex, and the increasing number of people with deviant sexual orientation or LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer).
The Rector of the UMRI Saidul Amin said that his party had coordinated with the provincial government to conduct the program, which also aims to preserve the identity of Rias as Malay land (Bumi Melayu).
“We have talked about the programs with the Governor of Riau, Mr. Syamsuar. The programs are an effort of Muhammadiyah and the UMRI to assist the government of Riau in solving the issues,” said Saidul Amin at the Subuh preaching forum at Masjid Baitul Hikmah on Sunday (25/12).
According to Saidul Amin, the rehabilitation and prevention programs will involve the Program of Islamic Psychology of the UMRI.
“The programs align with one of the goals of Muhammadiyah, to educate the nation and the universe,” said Saidul.
“We will discuss the technical aspects with Mr. Governor later because we believe the problems cannot be solved alone. We have to work together,” said Saidul.
In addition, the Governor of Riau has encouraged all elements to cope with the issues of LBGTQ, drug users, and free sex among the young generation.
