MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SURAKARTA — As the world continues to evolve rapidly, institutions, including Islamic boarding schools, are being challenged to adapt to new technological advancements. The era of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) has ushered in a new era, and Muhammadiyah is at the forefront of preparing its boarding schools for the future.
“We are now in the era of 5.0 that technology is increasingly integrated into our daily lives,” said Fiari Larasati, Marketing Research and Communication Division Head of CodingMU, during the National Coordination Meeting of the Muhammadiyah Department of Islamic Boarding School on Wednesday, August 28.
Era 5.0 is not merely a theoretical concept but a reality that is reshaping our world. Technology is transforming the way people live and work as the existence of smart homes, self-driving cars, QR code payments, or smart farming.
Rather than viewing Era 5.0 as a threat, Fiari Larasati sees it as an opportunity to nurture a generation ready for the future. She emphasized the importance of digital literacy, the ability to use technology wisely, and fostering creativity and innovation among students.
To address today’s challenges, Muhammadiyah has launched CodingMU, an initiative aimed at promoting innovation and improving the quality of education in line with modern technological advancements. Through this program, Muhammadiyah aims to enhance the technological skills of both students and teachers in its Islamic boarding schools. .
CodingMU employs a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach, combining these disciplines to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Additionally, project-based learning is implemented to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
By integrating Islamic values with technological advancements, CodingMU and Muhammadiyah boarding schools aim to produce a generation that is not only knowledgeable in religious matters but also equipped to thrive in the digital age. Muhammadiyah boarding schools are poised to become pioneers in education, providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to innovate and contribute to society in a meaningful way.
