MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, KUDUS – Muhammadiyah is set to hold the Tanwir National Meeting in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, from December 4 to 6, 2024. Despite the predominantly Christian population in Kupang, Muhammadiyah has been actively providing services that benefit all communities, according to the President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir.
Haedar emphasized Muhammadiyah commitment to spreading goodness throughout the nation. He highlighted that the organization’s efforts are rooted in sincere devotion and a desire to advance the civilization of all regardless of their background..
In Kupang, Muhammadiyah has made significant contributions to education, particularly through Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang (UMK). Haedar noted that UMK is an inclusive institution that welcomes students from all backgrounds.
“Over 80% of UMK students are our Christian brothers and sisters,” said Haedar.
Moreover, Haedar emphasized that Muhammadiyah benevolent activities extend to remote and underserved areas, often preceding government initiatives in education. He hoped that Muhammadiyah educational institutions would continue to expand, become more inclusive, and maintain high standards of quality.
“Muhammadiyah remains committed to fostering strong moral values in education. The foundation of human existence lies in good character, which is rooted in faith and piety,” said Haedar.
He further emphasized that building a prosperous nation requires a strong foundation in faith, piety, and noble character, as outlined in the Indonesian Constitution. According to Haedar, educating the nation involves not only intellectual development but also spiritual growth based on religious values.
