MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah welcomed a visit from Enstitu Sosyal Turkiye, a Turkish think tank, on Friday, May 2, at the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta. The visit aimed to learn from Muhammadiyah long-standing experience in education and social services.
Murat Yas, a researcher and the sole delegate from Enstitu Sosyal, explained that their organization focuses on three main areas: education, social issues, and the economy. He noted that education is their top priority, with most of their programs falling under this sector.
“Education is the main focus of our work. Most of our programs are related to education. That’s why this visit to Muhammadiyah is important for us. We hope to gain insights that can help us make a better contribution in this field,” saud Murat Yas.
He also expressed his admiration for Muhammadiyah roles in education across Indonesia, particularly in remote areas.
“People in Turkey would be very surprised if I told them about how amazing Muhammadiyah is, especially with the number of schools it runs,” he said.
Muhammadiyah welcomed the opportunity to build a partnership. Syafiq A. Mughni, Chairperson of Muhammadiyah, said the organization is open to collaboration with Enstitu Sosyal and suggested a future joint event.
“After this meeting, we plan to hold an international conference or webinar focused on education,” said Syafiq.
Besides Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Saad Ibrahim shared that Muhammadiyah has a special curriculum that combines religious and general subjects. This curriculum is used in Muhammadiyah Islamic boarding schools across Indonesia.
Murat Yas expressed interest in learning more about this curriculum and said he looked forward to exploring it further through the upcoming conference.
