EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has prepared and officially sent a delegation of newly admitted students abroad. They will pursue their studies at the Darul Hadith al-Hassania Institute in Morocco. The briefing session was held online on Tuesday (13/10). The students’ departure ceremony, meanwhile, took place at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng on Wednesday (14/10).
The delegates are selected Muhammadiyah cadres who passed a competitive selection process involving approximately 100 applicants from across Indonesia. They are expected to make the most of this opportunity to deepen their Islamic knowledge, broaden their international perspectives, and prepare themselves to become scholars and leaders who contribute to Muhammadiyah and the nation.
During the briefing, Syafiq A. Mughni, Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, reminded the students to adapt quickly to their new surroundings. Syafiq advised them to make the most of their overseas study opportunities.
“Not every cadre has the valuable opportunity to study abroad, so strive to be successful students,” he advised.
Strengthening Global Perspectives and Muhammadiyah Values
He also encouraged them to learn about local culture, introduce the ideas of the Treatise of Progressive Islam, and maintain good conduct to uphold Muhammadiyah’s reputation. Syafiq also reminded parents to provide moral and financial support while their children pursue their studies.
Meanwhile, Cecep Taufikurrohman of the Muhammadiyah Central Board’s Overseas Scholarship Team prayed for the students’ safe journey. He hoped that they would return to Indonesia with knowledge and skills that benefit Muhammadiyah and the nation.
He emphasized the importance of mastering Arabic and building international networks as essential preparation for introducing Muhammadiyah’s ideas and aspirations to a global audience.
Representing Muhammadiyah’s Special Branch in Morocco (PCIM Morocco), the branch’s deputy chair expressed readiness to welcome. PCIM Morocco, moreover, committed to accompany and mentor the new students to ensure that their adaptation and cadre development continue throughout their studies.
Through this scholarship program, the Muhammadiyah Central Board hopes to nurture a new generation of globally minded Islamic scholars and intellectuals with deep religious knowledge who can contribute to the Muslim community, the nation, and humanity. (Taufik)
