EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, ENDE – Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) has activated a regional coordination post in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, as part of its initial response to an earthquake that struck Flores.
The post is intended to strengthen coordination and support humanitarian operations across affected areas, particularly northern Flores.
The MDMC coordination post in Ende will support responses in six districts: East Manggarai, Ende, West Manggarai, Sikka, Manggarai, and Nagekeo. It will monitor conditions on the ground and help ensure that urgent needs are identified and addressed in a coordinated manner.
A temporary command post is also being established at Muhammadiyah Vocational High School in East Manggarai. The facility will serve as one of the operational support points for MDMC’s humanitarian response in affected areas.
MDMC Mobilizes Personnel and Emergency Supplies
As part of the initial response, the Muhammadiyah Central Board’s MDMC has deployed two personnel. They deployed MDMC Vice Chairperson Indrayanto and Sarniyah, Chairperson of the Emergency Response, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Division.
The personnel will help coordinate the response and assess the needs of affected communities. Meanwhile, the East Java Team is preparing emergency supplies to support residents during the emergency response period.
Health services are also being deployed. A medical team from PKU Muhammadiyah Clinic in Ende is already operating in affected areas.
In addition, health teams from PKU Muhammadiyah Bima and MDMC East Java are preparing to join the humanitarian operation.
The MDMC regional coordination post for the Flores earthquake response is based at the PKU Muhammadiyah Clinic in Ende.
Through stronger regional coordination, the establishment of temporary facilities and the mobilization of personnel and resources from across Indonesia, MDMC said it would continue supporting affected communities and tailoring its response to conditions on the ground.
