Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb Lauds Muhammadiyah Global Contributions

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR,ID. ABU DHABI – President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir, alongside General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti and Chairman Syafiq Mughni, was warmly welcomed by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb, as part of the esteemed Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2024 at the Emirates Palace Hotel on Sunday, February 4.

Grand Sheikh El-Tayeb expressed his longstanding admiration for Muhammadiyah’s impactful contributions, particularly in the fields of education and global humanitarianism. He lauded this organization’s unwavering commitment to these causes, deeming it highly deserving of the prestigious award.

Haedar, in response, expressed his sincere gratitude for the Grand Sheikh’s recognition. He also acknowledged the Grand Sheikh’s own significant contributions in promoting religious understanding, humanitarian efforts, and interfaith dialogue, describing him as a “mujadid,” a reformer figure for our times.

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, launched in 2019 following the historic meeting between Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb, embodies the spirit of the “Document on Human Fraternity.” It serves as a powerful testament to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s legacy, the founder of the United Arab Emirates, who was renowned for his unwavering commitment to humanitarian work and interfaith understanding.
