MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, GOMBONG — Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia (Wamentan RI), Sudaryono, expressed his appreciation to Muhammadiyah for its active participation and commitment in developing the national agriculture and food sector.
“I’m impressed with Muhammadiyah. God willing, through its involvement in agriculture, Muhammadiyah can become a leading force—just as it has excelled in education and healthcare,” said Wamentan during the opening of JAMNAS JATAM 1 in Gombong, Kebumen Regency, on Saturday (20/9).
Sudaryono emphasized that the government’s current agricultural program cannot achieve optimal results without active collaboration from the community.
He therefore called on the thousands of farmers in attendance to unite in advancing the nation through the agricultural sector.
“Before we change the world, let’s start by improving ourselves. An agricultural program cannot succeed if it depends solely on the president—community collaboration is key to moving the nation forward,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nurul Yamin, Chairperson of the Council for Community Empowerment of Central Board of Muhammadiyah (MPM PP), stated that the theme of this historic event—“Food Sovereignty for a Prosperous Indonesia”—reflects a tangible commitment to improving national welfare through the food sector.
“This theme echoes the Muhammadiyah Tanwir National Meeting theme in Kupang. We hope it will act as a catalyst to reinforce our collective commitment to advancing Indonesia’s prosperity through the agricultural sector,” explained Yamin.
Finally, Yamin affirmed that this commitment marks a positive step forward—one that must be actualized through concrete innovation.
“For Muhammadiyah, food sovereignty is not a solitary pursuit. We believe it can only be realized through strong collaboration and sustainable, innovative efforts,” said Yamin.
