MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Dance Team of Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta received the prestigious Special Jury Award in the International (Open) Category at the Festival of Colour of the World (FESCO) 2023 for their captivating performance of the traditional Acehnese dance, Ratoh Jaroe.
At Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia, on Saturday (July 22), thirteen female students of Madrasah Mu’allimaat participated in the dance competition under the guidance of their cultural arts teacher, Puput Utami.
Unik Rasyidah, the Director of Mu’allimaat Madrasah Muhammadiyah Jogja, commended their outstanding accomplishment and highlighted how such competitions could contribute to the students’ mental growth.
“The competition nurtures a positive mindset,” said Unik on Monday (July 24).
Participating in such competitions also exposes the students to a wide range of foreign cultures. In addition to showcasing their talents, they immerse themselves in diverse cultures from other countries, which is expected to cultivate a sense of tolerance.
“Looking ahead, we aspire to see them engaging and competing in diverse international events, offering a remarkable stage for showcasing the exceptional talents of Mu’allimaat students,” said Unik.
