MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Four Muhammadiyah elementary schools have secured places among Indonesia’s top 10 primary schools, according to data released by the National Achievement Center (Pusat Prestasi Nasional/Pusprenas).
Muhammadiyah Condongcatur Primary School ranked first nationwide with 523 recorded achievements. Placed second, Muhammadiyah Manyar Primary School with 450 achievements. Muhammadiyah Sapen I Primary School placed third with 338 achievements, while Muhammadiyah Sapen II Primary School ranked sixth with 206.
Irwan Akib, Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Central Board, welcomed the result and expressed gratitude for the schools’ performance.
“We are thankful that four Muhammadiyah primary schools are included among the top 10 nationally, based on Pusprenas data,” Irwan said in an interview on Saturday (27/12).
He, moreover, said the recognition should motivate Muhammadiyah schools to continue improving their quality and competitiveness. He encouraged them to aim not only for national success but also for consistent achievements at the international level.
“We hope other Muhammadiyah elementary schools will follow the example of these four,” he said. “At the same time, we want these achievements to be more evenly distributed across regions in Indonesia.
Furthermore, Irwan emphasized that sustained success requires concrete and well-organized effort across Muhammadiyah’s education system. He called on school principals, teachers, and Muhammadiyah Primary and Secondary Education Council to take active roles in advancing quality.
“To reach the highest level, systematic hard work is essential,” he said. “This applies to teachers, principals, and education councils at every level.
