MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, TAIWAN – Following a recent earthquake in Taiwan, the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Taiwan has collaborated with with the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance for Taiwan to provide aid to affected Indonesians.
The relief efforts are concentrated in Hualien, the earthquake’s epicenter. Here, PCIM Taiwan and its partner organizations are offering both psychosocial and logistical support.
Eko Hariyadi, Chair of Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) of PCIM Taiwan, explained that PCIM Taiwan, as the leader of the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance for Taiwan, is actively providing assistance. This includes offering mental health support through a team backed by the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). Additionally, a medical team led by dr. Catur from MDMC of East Java is on hand to address physical health needs.
“Our collaboration with the Indonesian Muslim Student Forum in Taiwan and Human Initiative has allowed us to deliver this crucial support to Indonesian citizens, particularly students from National Dong Hwa University (NDHU) in Hualien,” said Eko in a press release received on Monday (April 8). “We hope these efforts can provide them with the resources they need to navigate this challenging time.”
The hard work and dedication of the volunteer team were commended by Iqbal Sofan Sofwan, Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) Taipei. He specifically highlighted their support for Indonesian citizens, particularly NDHU students, in the heart of the earthquake zone.
“We’ve instructed the PWNI Division of KDEI to maintain communication with volunteer teams like PCIM Taiwan and Formit to stay updated on the situation,” Sofwan revealed. “This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of solidarity and our shared commitment to helping others during emergencies.”
This disaster response demonstrates the strong network of Indonesian organizations in Taiwan, working together to support their fellow citizens in times of need.
