EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — The Central Board of Muhammadiyah sent off a group of Muhammadiyah scholarship beneficiaries to study in Morocco on Saturday (12/9), at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
During a briefing held a day before their departure, The Central Board of Muhammadiyah Chairperson Syafiq A. Mughni urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the rare opportunity.
“Make the most of this opportunity and gain as much as you can while you are abroad. Consider your time in Morocco part of your Muhammadiyah cadre development,” he said.
He encouraged the cadres to learn from their lecturers, take advantage of the wealth of manuscripts and books in Moroccan libraries, and explore the country’s culture. They were also reminded to manage their time wisely so that their academic studies, intellectual development and organizational activities could remain balanced.
Cecep Taufikurrohman of the Muhammadiyah Central Board’s Overseas Scholarship Team also highlighted Morocco’s rich history and civilization. He therefore encouraged the cadres to learn English and French in addition to Arabic.
“If you return home knowing only Arabic, you will have missed an opportunity. English and French are also used there. Beyond your studies, make the most of your time in Morocco to learn as much as possible,” he said.
Cecep emphasized that the opportunity was a trust entrusted to them by Allah, the Muhammadiyah Central Board, and their universities. The cadres are expected to return as enlightened ulama and uphold Muhammadiyah’s good name while in Morocco.
Cadres Must Grow Together with PCIM Morocco
They were also encouraged to provide appropriate support to the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Board (PCIM) in Morocco. At the same time, PCIM Morocco is expected to assist the new cadres as they adapt to their new environment.
Representing the families of the scholarship recipients, one parent expressed gratitude and asked for guidance and prayers so that the cadres could pursue their studies successfully.
“We cannot repay all of this kindness. May Allah reward you for it in the future,” the parent said. (Taufik)
