MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, EGYPT– On Tuesday (2/12), Lazismu dispatched humanitarian aid for the people of Palestine through Egypt as part of the Join Action for Palestine 4 agenda together with POROZ (Association of Zakat Management Organizations) and other members.
Out of a total of 13 aid-container trucks deployed in this collaborative POROZ effort, Lazismu made a significant contribution by sending six (6) container trucks filled with urgent supplies for the people of Gaza.
Vice Chairperson of the Lazismu Central Board, Barry Adithya, stated that the aid from the Indonesian public, delivered through Lazismu, consists of three trucks carrying wheat, one truck of blankets, one truck of portable public restrooms, and one truck of medical supplies. Lazismu also participated in the delivery of food packages through one collaborative truck with other POROZ member institutions.
The aid was prepared and dispatched in cooperation with local partners in Egypt. Chairperson of Gazze Destek Denergi (GDD), Yaqub al Ghandur, expressed deep appreciation for the solidarity of the Indonesian people.
“Thank you from the heart of Gaza, from the children of Gaza to the people of Indonesia and the institutions in Indonesia such as Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, BMH, Dewan Dakwah Indonesia, nad all parties who contributed. May Allah reward you with goodness,” he said.
The convoy of humanitarian aid trucks will travel overland toward the city of Arish before reaching the Rafah border in Egypt. The aid is expected to arrive in Gaza in the coming days and will then be distributed to refugees and healthcare workers.
Rombongan truk bantuan kemanusiaan akan melakukan perjalanan darat menuju Kota Arish sebelum mencapai perbatasan Rafah di Mesir. Bantuan diperkirakan tiba di Gaza dalam beberapa hari ke depan untuk kemudian didistribusikan kepada para pengungsi dan tenaga kesehatan.
Kepala Kantor Lazismu Mesir, Fahd Abdul Malik, menjelaskan bahwa proses distribusi akan melalui sejumlah titik pemeriksaan.
“Perjalanan menuju Rafah akan melewati banyak checkpoint dengan pemeriksaan ketat yang memerlukan waktu,” terangnya. (Bintang Adrian)
