Ambassador of Ukraine to Indonesia Wishes Muhammadiyah’s International Role in Urging Conflict Resolution
MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Ambassador of Ukraine Vasyl Hamianin visited the Muhammadiyah Office of Yogyakarta on Thursday (2/3). He was welcomed by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syafiq Mughni, the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu’ti, and the Secretary of Muhammadiyah, Izzul Muslimin.
General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti mentioned it was the umpteenth friendly visit between elements of the Ukrainian government and Muhammadiyah. The Ukraine entourage previously visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
This visit discussed the actual political situation and development in Ukraine. The delegates hoped that the role of Muhammadiyah at the international level would lead to conflict resolution in the Ukraine-Russia war.
“We talked about the same thing that more and more people are suffering due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine for a year,” said Abdul Mu’ti.
“They wished Muhammadiyah could help as proclaiming supporting political statements that strengthen the Ukrainian nation,” said Abdul Mu’ti.
Responding to the Ukrainian delegates, Abdul Mu’ti stated that Muhammadiyah commits to world peace. Muhammadiyah expressed its concern for the conditions that occurred in Ukraine. Ukraine has about 800 thousand Muslims. “Therefore, this meeting is vital to raise our awareness and commitment to improving the situation in Ukraine and stopping the Russian invasion,” said Abdul Mu’ti.
