Exploring Potential Lazismu Office in Pakistan

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA –  The Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management (Lazismu) is exploring the possibility of establishing a branch office in Pakistan. This exciting development comes after a recent visit by the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Pakistan to the Lazismu headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The PCIM of Pakistan delegation, led by Chairperson Muhammad Iram Amin, expressed their interest in setting up a Lazismu office in Pakistan.

“Pakistan presents unique opportunities for Lazismu to implement its pillars, undertake philanthropic activities, and fundraise,” said Muhammad Iram Amin in the visit on Monday (July 15).

He also highlighted the experience of PCIM of Pakistan in fundraising initiatives, suggesting a potential collaboration with the Lazismu on future programs. This collaboration will answer challenges and social issues.

Besides, Director of Lazismu Ibnu Tsani welcomed the initiative and offered guidance for establishing the Lazismu office in Pakistan. Ibnu Tsani clarified that while the Lazismu would grant the mandate for the establishment of Lazismu Pakistan, its primary function would be donation collection. The distribution of those funds, however, would require approval from the Lazismu to ensure efficient resource allocation.

The discussions also addressed potential challenges. Ibnu Tsani acknowledged the difficulties faced by some Lazismu offices in the Middle East due to strict regulations. He proposed alternative solutions, such as focusing on fundraising efforts among Indonesians residing in Pakistan and centralized Lazismu accounts-making for all overseas offices.

For information, representatives from both sides were present, including the Lazismu Director of Institutions and Amil Resources (Hafizh Syafaaturrahman), Director of Utilization and Distribution (Ardi Lutfi Kautsar), Manager of Institutions and Amil Resources (Risya Umami), and Manager of Empowerment and Distribution (Shofia Khoirunnisa). The PCIM Pakistan delegation included Chairperson Muhammad Irham Amin and Treasurer Nur Itqan Fahmi.
