EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, FLORES – Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) has activated 10 service posts to strengthen the humanitarian response for communities affected by the Flores Earthquake. The function of the service posts are to bring assistance closer to affected communities and to address their needs according to conditions on the field.
The Vice Chairperson of Central Board of MDMC, Indrayanto, explained that Muhammadiyah’s service posts provide a range of assistance, including healthcare, food and non-food logistical support, clean water and sanitation, emergency shelter, psychosocial support, and emergency education.

The service is also supported by the reinforcement from local MDMC volunteers, along with volunteers from several Muhammadiyah universities and healthcare facilities,” he said, as quoted in a press release received Tuesday (18/8).
The response involves volunteers from Muhammadiyah Maumere, Muhammadiyah University of Kupang, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, Ahmad Dahlan University, Muhammadiyah Hospital in Ende, and Muhammadiyah Hospital in Bima. Additional support has been provided by the Muhammadiyah Provincial Council for Public Health from East Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta, as well as volunteer resources and relief supplies from MDMC East Java.
Indrayanto reported that some residents were still experiencing trauma from the earthquake and aftershocks.
“This condition is a concern in the response, particularly in providing healthcare services and psychological support for affected communities,” he added.
The 10 Muhammadiyah service posts are located in Mbay, Waekokak, Ngolombai, Muhammadiyah Clinic in Ende, Muhammadiyah University of Maumere, Muhammadiyah vocational High School, Reo and West Reo, Cabal and West Cabal, Labuan Bajo, and Ruing.
Indrayanto concluded that by strengthening service posts across various locations, MDMC is working to ensure that the humanitarian response can reach affected communities more directly.
“We expect the presence of volunteers, healthcare workers, and logistical support at each location to help meet the basic needs of affected communities while supporting the post-disaster recovery process,” he said.
