STATEMENT ON
MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT
Number 16/PER/I.0/B/2026
BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM
After closely monitoring recent developments in the Middle East region, the Central Board of Muhammadiyah hereby conveys the following position:
- We, Muhammadiyah, express our deep concern and condolences over the passing of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, as well as other victims who were reportedly targeted in attacks by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran. We extend the same condolences to victims of retaliatory strikes attributed to Iran in several Arab countries.
- We strongly condemn these attacks and regard them as violations of human rights, international law, and the disregard of resolutions issued by the United Nations.
- We call upon the United Nations to impose firm sanctions on the United States and Israel for these violations and to realize such measures through concrete and enforceable actions.
- We urge the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take immediate and decisive steps to end the genocide against the Palestinian people, to halt all forms of violence and to prevent further escalation of tensions among countries in the region.
- We call upon Iran and the Arab states to exercise restraint and to prioritize dialogue in order to avoid deeper conflict among fellow member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
- We strongly encourage dialogue and diplomatic measures as the primary means to resolve the conflict in the Middle East.
- We call upon all nations, multilateral and bilateral institutions, religious leaders and the broader forces of civil society to participate actively in promoting global peace and justice, and to condemn all arbitrary actions that result in destruction and the erosion of civilization on earth.
