MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID. LIBYA – The Special Branch of Muhammadiyah in Libya (PCIM Libya) organized an international iftar on Thursday (26/2), bringing together female students from various national backgrounds.
The event took place in a hall at a women’s dormitory in Tripoli, Libya and drew 24 university students currently pursuing education in the country.
Organizers designed the gathering as more than a communal breaking of the fast. Instead, they framed it as a platform for strengthening Islamic values and fostering solidarity during Ramadan. Through this initiative, PCIM Libya sought to deepen bonds of ukhuwah Islamiyah across national lines while encouraging unity and social awareness.
Ardhia Regita Chayani, Chairperson of the Women Division of PCIM Libya, said the event aimed to affirm Ramadan as a space for togetherness.
“We present international iftar as a moment to strengthen cross-national sisterhood and to emphasize that Ramadan is a space of unity,” she said. “We hope this gathering nurtures solidarity, mutual care and shared commitment amid diversity.
Reflection, Prayer, Shared Solidarity
Participants assembled at 6 p.m. local time before the program formally began. One member of PCIM Libya delivered a short religious talk on the essence of Ramadan, inviting attendees to reflect on both the spiritual and social dimensions of fasting.
Subsequently, the participants offered prayers for Palestine as an expression of solidarity with Muslim facing hardship. As the call to break the fast arrived, they shared a meal together in an orderly and warm atmosphere.
Through initiatives such as this, PCIM Libya reaffirmed its commitment to advancing programs that promote ukhuwah, da’wah, and the positive contribution of Indonesian students within the international community.
