MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, CIANJUR—Muhammadiyah has been involved in disaster relief actions for many years. This movement recently provided aids for people affected by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hitting Cianjur, West Java.
Muhammadiyah deployed a medical team, distributed food, water, and medical equipment, and established shelters for the survivors.
Muhammadiyah also collaborated with local government to supply logistics and transportation for the Muhammadiyah medical team and volunteers.
According to the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) and Lazismu (the Muhammadiyah Zakah Management Body), per 5 December 2022, Rp. 2,227,000,000 was distributed to 59,451 Cianjur earthquake-affected people. Indeed, Muhammadiyah provided five strategic service points, 262 emergency shelters, logistic and non-logistic distributions for 12,022 people, instant food for 43,452 people, health services for 2,685 people, and psychosocial aids for people who got trauma and mental disorders, and clean water.
In addition, Muhammadiyah has got engaged in many disaster reliefs including the 2004 Aceh tsunami, the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, and the 2018 Lombok earthquake. Muhammadiyah commits to inspire other people and to help the Cianjur earthquake-affected people.
