MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID – President of ‘Aisyiyah Salmah Orbayinah mentioned that gender equality in Muhammadiyah is not just a concept, but an action as applied in ‘Aisyiyah.
Indeed, gender inequality does not exist in Muhammadiyah. Men and women have equal opportunities and roles in evolving society as taught by K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, a founder of Muhammadiyah.
Ahmad Dahlan highlighted equal roles of men and women since the early establishment of Muhammadiyah. Women and men have an even enhance to perform da’wa and amar ma’ruf nahi munkar.
“Islam does not discriminate women and men,” said Salmah Orbayinah on the International Women’s Day on Wednesday (8/3). Indeed, they have a similar opportunity to leverage technology which has rapidly developed and become a vital element of human development. Salmah Orbayinah encouraged women to innovate and advance science and technology.
“Women and men have the same rights to flourish and obtain equal access as men, meaning that women and men have equal occasion to innovate and access digital literacy to develop science and technology,” Salmah Orbayinah said.
According to Salmah Orbayinah, Islam provides equal opportunities for women and men to do good deeds to achieve a good life (hayatan thayyiban) through mastery of science and technology. ‘Aisyiyah also continues to encourage equal access to literacy and equality between men and women in digital technology management.
“Therefore, equal literacy and a safe digital environment are essential to enabling access to the use of digital technology for all,” said Salmah Orabyinah.
