PCIM Turkiye Presents Strategic Plans to Strengthen Muhammadiyah Global Outreach

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah Chairperson of International Relations and Cooperation Syafiq A. Mughni welcomed representatives from the Muhammadiyah Special Branch of Turkiye (PCIM Turkiye) at the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta on Wednesday, July 23.

The visit became a moment to strengthen relations and a chance for PCIM Turkiye to share updates on its strategic initiatives to support Muhammadiyah global presence. One of the key plans presented was the establishment of a Markaz Dakwah, a center that would serve as a base for Muhammadiyah activities in Turkiye and promote its progressive Islamic values.

Syafiq expressed his full support for the initiative, emphasizing the important role of PCIM in sharing Muhammadiyah ideas with the wider Muslim world.

“We want Muhammadiyah’s progressive spirit to grow in other countries as well. PCIM’s duty is to introduce and promote these ideas among Muslim communities abroad,” said Syafiq.

Syafiq also highlighted the need for a strong and sustainable physical presence through proper infrastructure.

“A Markaz Dakwah is the foundation for a sustainable movement. However, we also need to carefully consider its sustainability since most of our members there are temporary residents,” added Syafiq.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairperson of PCIM Turkiye, Maftuh Ikhsan Nanda Kurniawan, reported that the organization has now reached its tenth year and currently has 16 local branches (PRIM) in various cities. He also announced a plan to open a 17th branch in Iğdır, a city near the Turkiye-Syria border.

“Many locals are interested in learning about Muhammadiyah. We plan to establish the 17th PRIM as part of our efforts to expand da’wa across this large country,” explained Nanda.

These efforts are part of Muhammadiyah’s broader strategy to expand its global mission. Continued support from all parts of the organization is essential to help PCIM Turkiye grow and strengthen Muhammadiyah’s international reach.
