EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — The Central Board of Muhammadiyah Received a visit from the Global Peace Foundation on Thursday (17/9) at its headquarters in Central Jakarta.
The visit was part of an ongoing relationship between Muhammadiyah and the Global Peace Foundation through various forums and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and strengthening ties among people.
Syafiq A. Mughni, Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, said the Global Peace Foundation has invited Muhammadiyah to several meetings focused on promoting world peace.
“They have invited Muhammadiyah to various meetings on several occasions, generally encouraging all of us to build peace in the world and foster good relations among people regardless of their religion, ethnicity, nationality, or customs,” Syafiq said.
According to Syafiq, the Global Peace Foundation has implemented peacebuilding programs in several countries, particularly in Africa. The Global Peace Foundation has also developed similar initiatives in Asia, including Indonesia.
In Indonesia, one of the foundation’s areas of focus has been engaging young people through peace campaigns. The program sought to raise awareness among youth about the importance of building peaceful communities amid diversity.
“They have been carrying out similar programs in Asia, including Indonesia. They previously had a program that invited young people to take part in a kind of peace campaign several years ago,” he said.
Discussing Future Peacebuilding Programs
Syafiq explained that the latest visit focused specifically on several programs that are feasible.
“Today, they visited the Muhammadiyah Central Board Headquarters to discuss several programs that will be carried out in the future,” he said.
The meeting also opened opportunities for continued communication and collaboration on initiatives focused on peace, humanitarian issues, and stronger relations across religious and social background.
