EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah Youth Association (PP Pemuda Muhammadiyah) has officially appointed the East Java Provincial Board of Muhammadiyah Youth Association as the host of the organization’s Muktamar XIX (19th National Congress).
The appointment was formalized through the handover of the official host designation decree. PP Pemuda Muhammadiyah President Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, presented the decree to East Java Chairperson M. Anang Nafiuzzaki and his board at the Muhammadiyah Central Board office in Yogyakarta on Tuesday (4/8).
The handover marks the beginning of preparations for the organization’s highest deliberative forum. The congress will bring together Muhammadiyah youth cadres from across Indonesia.
The 19th National Congress is scheduled to take place in 2027. The appointment also reflects the organization’s trust in East Java to host the national gathering.
A Mandate Beyond Administration
Dzulfikar said hosting the congress is more than an administrative responsibility. He described it as an organizational mandate that must be carried out with accountability.
“With this, we officially hand over the decree appointing the East Java Provincial Board as the host of the 19th Congress of Muhammadiyah Youth. This mandate is not merely about organizing an event. It is about representing Muhammadiyah youth in delivering a congress that is orderly, dignified, and progressive,” Dzulfikar said.
He also called on Muhammadiyah members across East Java to work together to ensure the success of the national event.
According to Dzulfikar, the congress should succeed not only in technical terms. It also should produce strategic ideas for the organization’s future.
“We hope the entire Muhammadiyah family in East Java will work together to welcome this congress. Let the 19th Congress become a space for national consolidation, stronger cadre leadership and greater contributions from Muhammaidyah youth to the nation,” he said.
He added that the forum should also produce forward-looking decisions to address the challenges of a changing era.
East Java Begins Preparation
Meanwhile, M. Anang Nafiuzzaki said the East Java Provincial Board was ready to accept the responsibility of hosting the congress. Preparations will involve close coordination with the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Youth Association. The regional board will also work with Muhammadiyah structures at various levels, as well as local governments and other stakeholders.
The handover of the decree therefore marks the first step toward the 19th Congress. The event is expected to serve as a forum for national consolidation and strengthen the youth movement. More broadly, it is intended to reinforce the role of Muhammadiyah Youth in responding to Indonesia’s future national challenges.
