MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MEDAN – Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah commit to accelerating education in Indonesia and contributing to the nation’s development.
With a total of 174 higher education institutions, including one in Malaysia, Muhammadiyah plays a significant role in shaping the educational landscape. As of early 2023, the organization boasts an impressive roster of 21,021 teaching staff, 2,889 university teachers holding doctorate degrees, and 241 professors.
Recognizing the need for further academic expertise, President of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, highlighted the implementation of systematic acceleration programs to address this demand. His remarks came during the inauguration ceremony of Police Inspector General Dadang Hartanto SIK M.Si as a professor of Public Administration at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara (UMSU) on Saturday (27/5).
Despite Muhammadiyah’s already notable contributions, including 121 hospitals, 436 health care centers, and thousands of schools and empowerment offices, the organization believes there is still more it can do to positively impact Indonesia. Therefore, Haedar emphasized the significance of collaboration with all elements of society.
“If all elements, including governmental bodies, the police, and the military, collaborate with the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and national unity, we will become a formidable force capable of addressing national issues such as corruption, social inequality, and human resource management,” said Haedar.
He further emphasized the importance of joint efforts between professors and university teaching staff to foster the growth and prosperity of the nation.”
