EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SURAKARTA – The Central Board of Nasyiatul ‘Aisyiyah (PPNA) held a media gathering ahead of the Tanwir II and National Congress (Muktamar) XV of Nasyiatul ‘Aisyiyah, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday (Aug. 6-8) in Surakarta.
At the gathering, PPNA President Ariati Dina Puspitasari said the organization’s major forum carries the theme “Progressive Young Women for a Sustainable Civilization.” The theme will then guide the organization’s direction over the next four years. The congress will also address strategic issues and elect the next president and members of the Central Board of Nasyiatul ‘Aisyiyah.
“At this congress, we will continue to uphold the spirit of Progressive Young Women. This means young women who embrace the values of the Treatise of Progressive Islam as well as the Treatise of Progressive Women,” Ariati said during the media gathering on Wednesday afternoon (5/8).
Ariati distilled the movement’s vision into three main pillars: faith, knowledge, and meaningful contribution through concrete action.
Four Strategic Challenges
The congress will focus on four major strategic issues: Indonesia’s demographic dividend, disruption in media and technology, climate change, and economic sovereignty and self-reliance.
Nasyiatul Aisyiyah will respond through several targeted programs. These include economic sovereignty, eco-livelihood initiatives, digital preaching literacy and eco-dakwah.
The organization also plans to turn its commitments into practical action through a more environmentally friendly congress. It will minimize plastic use throughout the event.
In addition, the election process will adopt an electronic, paperless voting system to improve efficiency during the congress sessions.
Nasyiatul Aisyiyah also reaffirmed its commitment as a progressive Islamic women’s movement that is friendly to women and children. Special facilities will be provided to support the rights and needs of women and children throughout the event.
“All of these efforts will uphold the principle khairunnas anfa’uhum linnas—the best people are those who benefit others. Every program we launch should create a real impact and serve the public interest, especially for women and children,” Ariati said.
875 Participants from Across Indonesia
Surakarta was selected as host of the Third Tanwir and 15th Nasyiatul Aisyiyah Congress based on a decision made at the organization’s Second Tanwir in Serang, Banten, in September 2025.
The four-yearly deliberative forum will bring together representatives from 35 regional Nasyiatul Aisyiyah boards across Indonesia. Around 875 participants are going to attend, representing the organization’s central, regional and local leadership.
Beyond electing new leaders, the 15th Congress is going to produce strategic ideas and policy directions for the next four years.
The outcomes are intended to strengthen the role of Muhammadiyah’s young women in building a civilization that is progressive, inclusive and sustainable. (Bhisma)
